Wrangler Job Description

This description is subject to change from summer to summer;
however, this does give a general idea of what is expected.

1. To attend pre-camp staff training session (ten days).

2. Assumes full responsibility for safety in all equestrian activities

3. Care for the horses and maintenance of the tack, and the barn

4. Have horses saddled to be at the hitching rail on time.

5. Keep the campers away from the unless they are preparing to mount. Do not let any campers walk directly behind the horses. Keep them calm around the horses.

6. Campers should be encouraged to ride with long pants and shoes that will not fall off on the trail.

7. Take no chances on the horses, and keep them in the same order throughout the trail.

8. In the event of a storm occurring once you are on the trail, get each camper off the horses and have each one lead their horse back to the hitching rail. Leave the horses tied up at the rail during the storm. The Director or Asst. Director will decide if the weather would cause cancellation of the rides.

9. Make sure all campers have equal opportunity to ride.

10.Any other jobs with program or ministry as assigned by director

11. Participates in relational ministry aspects of camp program as needed.

12. Is a role-model as a follower of Jesus Christ at all times.
